This is a delightful antique Sheraton bed. The width is the same as other beds of the time but the posts have been scaled down and the rail and headboard are quite low. I have only seen a few beds with similar proportions. I call them children’s beds but I have no evidence that they were used for children. The bed is of birch and nicely turned with series of beads on the vase section. The headboard is of pine. The metal pins in the top of the post indicate this bed had a tester frame and finials. The side rails are missing. This bed would take a full size mattress with a platform.
