Description

This bed is an excellent example of early 19th century American Classical or Empire style. The bed is likely from New York and features fine examples of water leaf and acanthus spiral carving on the foot posts. The head post are plain turned with a scrolled headboard. The foot posts are mahogany with birch comprising the rest of the bed. The side rails are not original and the posts have been modified to accept them. The tester frame is missing but can be added if desired.
